Have you ever dreamt of spending a night (or more) in a sophisticated luxury NYC hotel with a very elegant yet super friendly vibe, spacious rooms and, possibly, a breathtaking view of the Empire State Building?
The Langham New York Review
Conveniently located at 400 Fifth Avenue, between 36th and 36th Streets, this 5-start hotel is just minutes from Bryant Park, New York Public Library, Grand Central Terminal, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, the Morgan Library… and you can have an iconic view of the Empire State Building right from your room or terrace!!!
The Langham New York is perfect for everyone who wants to experience a first class stay in the heart of NYC, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Fifth Avenue around Rockefeller Center.
Insider Tip:
Be sure to download Brilliant by Langham, their new loyalty program, to enjoy instant benefits like complimentary upgrades (subject to availability), rewards, and personalized services. Prior to our stay, we received an email from Sarah Kim, a Langham Hotel Service Stylist, inquiring about any needs, preferences, or allergies (to down feather or fruits/nuts) – a thoughtful touch that set the tone for an unforgettable stay!
Rooms & Accommodations
Luca and I had our first One Thousands and One Nights experience at The Langham New York, Fifth Avenue back in 2021. At that time, we stayed in the Deluxe Room with Terrace: an ample, modern room with elegant and cozy decor and a spacious private terrace with a partial view of the Empire State Building.
This time, we stayed in room 1405, which offered the same spaciousness and comfort we remembered… you could even forget you were staying in NYC if it wasn’t for the MESMERIZING view of the Empire State Building!
The staff is very warm and friendly, the service is excellent and there’s a complimentary coffee station and hot apple cider in the lobby at different time of the day.
The Langham elegant pens hold a piece of history
When I asked the cleaning lady if I could keep the beautiful pen in the room, she gave me an extra one, and shared this fascinating story with us. The hotel customized pens are made with the same pink and gold pattern of the original Langham Hotel in London‘s wallpaper from 1865! No wonder they are so elegant and beautiful!
We learned that during World War II, The Langham London, then called “Grand Hotel”, served as a first-aid and military post, and unfortunately, the hotel’s West Wing was destroyed during air attacks. In 1965, The BBC bought the property and started broadcasting the iconic radio programming “Grand Hotel” from there, till the site was purchased again by Langham in 1986. These pens serve as a reminder of the hotel’s rich heritage.

Location:
📍The Langham, 400 5th Ave, New York, NY.
What to do in the area:
The Langham’s central location means you’re minutes away from New York City’s iconic landmarks!
The Empire State Building is just minutes away, as well as Bryant Park – one of my favorite parks in the City! Experience all that Bryant Park has to offer, from from yoga to juggling, fence or dance classes, bocce or pingpong, broadway in the park and the outdoor movies (or holiday market and skating rink)… it’s the place to be!
📚 Make sure to visit the New York Public Library, and access the free rooftop terrace just across the street, inside the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library, 476 5th Ave. It offers stunning Midtown views for free!
Another stunning place that you would want to add to your list is the Morgan Library and Museum. Get ready to be blown away by its architecture and its collection!
☕️🥐 Treat yourself to one of the best (if not THE best) pistachio croissants in NYC at Cinico, 45 W 27th St: it’s an authentic Italian cafe that recently opened, quickly becoming my favorite spot in the area!
The Pistachio Latte was not officially on the menu when I ordered it (they were still perfecting the recipe, even if it tasted perfect to me), and I’m pretty sure they’ll make an exception for you as well if you ask for it 😋
🌮🍹 Tacombi, 30 W 24th St, is one of my favorite Mexican spots in the city! They have multiple locations and this one is located at the bottom of the Empire State Building. It’s very reasonable, and it’s such a cool spot!
🍃 Franchia Vegan Cafe, 12 Park Ave, offers delicious plant-based cuisine in a super cute atmosphere. It’s on the pricer side – we spent around $75, tip included, each for this amazing dinner, from appetizers to dessert: sooo worthy!!!
The staff at Langham, recommended us to check Fine & Rare, 9 East 37th Street. I’ll share this tip with you even if I still didn’t get the chance to try. I’m planning to go soon and I’ll keep you posted.
Café China, 13 E. 37th Street, was another recommendation from the staff. We had our dinner there and we really enjoyed it!
