In these last days of January, many of you reached out on social media to ask me if I would have attended the hot chocolate festival again…
Saddened, I had to explain that City Bakery, has officially closed after 30 years.
I was cheering myself up by sipping an hot chocolate with whipped cream at Eataly, when my friend Kiara shared with me a Secret NYC article: Maury Rubin, City Bakery hot chocolate chef, was about to open a new chocolate pop-up in the Greenwich Village on Saturday Feb. 1st!
I usually work all day long on Saturdays and yet I made it to quickly pass by… I HAD TO be present at the Hot Chocolate Paradise grand opening!
The Wonderbon Chocolate Co. is at 257 Bleecker Street, corner with Cornelia Street.
Yesterday I tested their DARK hot chocolate: delicious!!!
Enriched with melted chocolate, it will be served in many flavors, from coffee (one of my favorites for the Hot Chocolate Festival) to Vanilla and Ginger.
And you could also choose from honey whipped cream, cream fresh whipped cream, and many more!
After 5pm it will also be served a boozy hot chocolate during happy hour!
Chocolate pudding (made with the hot chocolate from the day before), chocolate tartine with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt, and chocolate truffle are also available, as much as other vegan options.
The Wonderbon Chocolate Co. was founded by hot chocolate chef Maury Rubin together with Alex Atzbergerad, a lifelong chocolate lover… like me! 😉
You’ll find them in this Greenwich Village, location till April, them we’ll follow them else where… it’s actually an itinerant pop-up.
Open every day: from 11am to 8pm from Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 7pm on Sunday.
Make sure to say CIAO to Maury from me if you choose to swing by 🥰
