For spring break, Luca and I were able to spend 5 days in Vail, Colorado… it was MAGICAL!
How to get to Vail from the airport?
Epic Mountain Express offers shuttles to most of the Vail hotels (see more on the Epic Mountain Express website). Travel time from Denver (125miles) is 3-3.5 hours each way and cost $75 per person; from Eagle County Vail Airport (38 miles) is about 50 minutes and cost $45 per person.
We actually got an Uber from Denver: it took us about 2 hours to get to destination and we spent $180.
Accommodation: we stayed at Airbnb Luxurious and Sunny Potato Patch Chalet with our dear friend Stefano.
Stunning 4 bedrooms house has with a breathtaking views of Vail Valley and outdoor hot tub… you can only imagine how restorative, freeing and energizing was immersing in a very hot water after a ski day 😍
Vail, with its back bowls deep powder and stunning views, is known for being a ski paradise.
31 lifts, 195 trails, and 5,317 Acres of skiable terrain.
Yes, multiple trial maps! This place is huge. You’ll get lost, skiing from one bowl to another (as we did), and , don’t worry: signage is great and you can always find your way back.
There are 2 gondolas from 2 different starting points in Vail’s Village, so lines are never crazy. You can get food and rest in the many locations across the mountain (this year reservations were required because of Covid).
Luca (who’s a ski instructor in Hunter Mountain, NY) day dreamed for 5 days… yup, this one below is him!
This year’s ski season was definitely different (what was not, right?) and we’re so thankful we had the opportunity to end it this way!!!
Ski season in Vail might be over, however I’d suggest you to start planning now for the next one!!!
Here’s what you need to know:
- Get your Epic Pass ASAP: early birds get 20% discount!
A daily ski pass in Vail only will cost you around $230 while the Epic Pass (which gives you access to ski over 50 American and international ski resorts!!!) is now $783 (regular price: $979)!!! - Vail is very expensive: expect to pay around $8 for a coffee on the mountain. Grocery stores in the village though have reasonable prices.
- Vail Village is super cute and you can shop anything.
- Restaurants: I’d recommend Mountain Standard, we had a delicious dinner!!!
